For the last few months Braden has been having a hard time with the concept of growing up. He tells us a lot that he wants to stay little forever so that he never has to leave us, although he does understand that he is, in fact, going to grow up. This is a conversation that we had about this a bit ago.
B: Mama, I am not growing up, you know.
Me: Honey, of course you are. Look how big and strong you are getting! Pretty soon you are going to turn 5!
B: But, when I turn 5 I will still be little.
Me: Yep, and then someday you will be big like daddy and that is okay.
B: No it’s not! You will be sad if I get big and have to move away! (crying begins)
Me: It’s okay, sweetie. All kids get big! Even when you grow up and move into your own house we will still be best friends and spend a lot of time together, so I will be okay.
B: (through his tears) But, I won’t be okay without you!
Me: *commence waterworks*
35 years ago today my mom and dad got married! Scott and I hope that we will be as happy as them on our 35th anniversary.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Drawing below by Regan depicting Papa proposing to Grandma Marie. (Mom, I think you should get some lime green tights, they look good on you!):

Since we finally have a place to post these, here are some Halloween photos!
We had a princess (Regan), a ballerina (Gwen), a prince in a knight costume (Braden), and a dragon (Coen).

It is the holidays, as we all know. As the holidays are approaching we all have our favorite shows and movies that we like to watch, and of course our favorite recipes that we like to make each holiday. A couple of years ago I was introduced to the video clip below from Sandra Lee’s Semi-Homemade show. It has become a classic clip that I feel the need to look up each fall and after all of this time I still find it hilarious. By the way, the “acorns” that Sandra is adding to the cake at the end are, in fact, corn nuts. Her recipe on-line at the Food Network webiste also calls for popcorn. Just for fun I am also posting a newer clip from Sandra Lee’s show, one in which she makes a “$500 cake for $40″, or as I like to call it, “The cake that looks like it was designed by a four year old”. Scott and I both love both clips!
Enjoy!
Scott and I decided to start this blog as a way to keep our family and friends updated as to what is going on with us, and to share pictures with everyone. With our busy schedules we know that we aren’t always good about keeping everyone up-to-date, so hopefully this will be a good way to share what is happening in our lives with all of our beloved family and friends.
The website address, “amothersoulphotography.com” is a website that I bought awhile ago and decided not to use for it’s originally intended purpose of being my business website, which is why I am using it for this blog now.
We hope that you will enjoy our new site and we will try to update and post pictures at least once a week!
Love,
Shana and Scott
